Small Bathroom Look Bigger

Do you wish you had a bigger bathroom?

Most of us dream of having the perfect bathroom that's kitted out with a jacuzzi bath and enough room to run around in. Unfortunately, you either have to own a mansion or sacrifice other space to achieve this.

Yet, it is possible to make your bathroom appear bigger than it actually is and more inviting to use. Plus, it doesn't cost the earth to achieve it.

In this article, we're going to answer the question 'how to make my small bathroom look bigger?' Follow these steps and you won't go wrong.

Read on for more information.

Increase the Natural Light

Bright rooms and spaces will appear larger than darker rooms.

To increase the natural light, you should ensure your windows are kept clean on the inside and out. You should regularly clean the inside at least once a week and the outside perhaps once a month. If you don't feel comfortable cleaning the outside yourself, hire professional window cleaners.

You'll be amazed at how much extra light will appear in your bathroom once they're cleaned.

You should also try to take out curtains and blinds as these will block light. Instead, replace the clear windows with frosted glass which adds privacy.

Create an Illusion with the right tiles

To make your small bathroom look bigger, it’s commonly thought that having small tiles installed will make the space of your bathroom appear to be bigger. However, the increased amount of grouting lines can actually make this space appear to be smaller. The real trick of creating an illusion of larger floor space is by using large plain-coloured floor tiles which will make your floor space look bigger.

Install a Large Mirror

Mirrors can add an illusion the room is bigger whilst also reflecting light.

No doubt you'll have a mirror already in your bathroom, but it could be worth upgrading. To get maximum effect you should look to install a large wall mirror that's several feet in diameter. These are the mirrors you tend to find in hotel bathrooms.

Don't worry, they're quick and easy to install by yourself.

You could also add smaller mirrors around the bathroom and try to stay away from framed ones.

Go for a Neutral Interior Colour

You may have seen bathrooms from the '70s and '80s which were like an explosion in a paint factory. Things like green baths and dark walls were common making the bathroom look ugly.

If you fancy doing some
painting and decorating, then we suggest a neutral colour such as white. Things like white wall tiles will reflect light, making your bathroom look bigger.

You could also replace your flooring with tiles or, choose something like
wooden flooring to add a natural look. Wooden flooring will also hide any dirt marks which is an added bonus.
